چکیده
Abstract In the aftermath of a seismic event, decision-makers have to decide quickly among alternative management actions with limited knowledge on actual health condition buildings. Each choice entails different direct and indirect consequences. For example, if building sustains low damage in mainshock but people are not evacuated, casualties may occur aftershocks lead structure fail. On other hand, evacuation structurally sound could unnecessary financial losses due business occupancy interruption. A monitoring system can provide information about after an earthquake that support between several competing alternatives, targeting minimization This paper proposes framework for quantifying benefit installing permanent structural (S 2 HM) operations event. Decision-makers use this procedure preventively evaluate SHM worthiness its installation.

Structural Health Monitoring and Seismic Impact Assessment
The goals of seismic impact assessment can be achieved by seismic monitoring systems and seismic impact simulator. Seismic monitoring system, for the purpose of hazard analysis, local site effects analysis, vulnerability analysis, and estimation of loss, is one application of SHM in earthquake engineering. A prototype, conceptual seismic impact simulator integrating SHM, FEM, GIS, and Virtual R...
متن کاملBuilding a Timeline Network for Evacuation in Earthquake Disaster
In this paper, we propose an approach that automatically extract users’ activities in sentences retrieved from Twitter. We then design a timeline action network based on Web Ontology Language (OWL). By using the proposed activity extraction approach, we can automatically collect data for the action network. Finally, we propose a novel action-based collaborative filtering, which predicts missing...
متن کاملStructural Health Monitoring Systems as a Tool for Seismic Protection
Structural Health Monitoring for civil structures is becoming increasingly popular in Europe and worldwide also because of the opportunities that it offers in the fields of construction management and maintenance. Reduction of inspection costs, research, with the possibility to better understand the behaviour of structures under dynamic loads, seismic protection, observation, in real or near re...
متن کاملSeismic Response of Building Structures with Sliding Non-structural Elements
Interaction between a structure under base excitation and heavy non-structural elements that it supports is significant in the seismic analysis and design of the structure. Heavy non-structural elements may slide/rock under base excitation, and this dynamic action affects the seismic behavior of the supporting structure. Hence, in this study, a numerical model was presented to describe the seis...
متن کامل“MEMS based seismic and vibration sensors in Building & Structural Health Monitoring systems”
Structural Health Monitoring systems are increasingly being installed throughout the world most especially in areas vulnerable to high levels of seismic activity but also within large structures subject to sub-surface landslip, mining, or externally induced stress and vibration. Strong Motion seismic sensor technology is evolving in respond to these emerging demands with traditional Electromech...
